'Studying the

Bible in context'

EXAMPLE A: Introducing the Land Between

(Regions on the Run, pp. 6-7)

Opening maps and discussion in Regions on the Run appear on pages 6 and 7 (above). The concept that the land of the Bible is a 'land between' is basic to an understanding of the setting of biblical events, the greater world of the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean.

While the above image does not do justice to the actual printed pages, note that the contrasting green and brown areas on both maps present the north and the south. Circles on the right map indicate the northern and the southern arenas, the heartlands of Israel in the north and Judah in the south.

Sites on the Middle East map (left) and the accompanying discussion introduce the student to the larger context of the Land Between. This map appears with other markings throughout the book.

Sites and highways on the right hand map introduce the student to important features of the land of the Bible. Trade and invasion routes on this same map appear on page nine with discussions.
