EXAMPLE B: The Northern Arena

(Regions on the Run, pp. 10-11)

Each of the three arenas presented in Regions on the Run is introduced on a double page. The double page above shows the Northern Arena. The smaller map on the left allows the reader to find this arena in the greater Land Between. The top map to the right identifies major regions coveted by imperial and local powers alike (red circles). Regions of local power are circled in brown. (Circles are clear on the printed page.) Sites and routes appear on the map at the bottom right.s

Two areas of discussion on the page above explore these three maps. After reading this page one is ready for detailed maps and discussion on the pages which follow pages. Note in the list of contents to the right side of this web page that the Northern Arena (in bold) is followed by more detailed discussions: 'Phoenicia and Carmel Gateways' (pp. 12-13) and the 'Damascus, Bashan and Hazor Gateways' (pp. 14-15). Click on Example C to see one of these more detailed pages.
