'Studying the

Bible in context'

Biblical Backgrounds currently offers three products in printed form:

Geobasics in the Land of the Bible (GLB) - The book Geobasics in the Land of the Bible teaches the physical geography of the Land of the Bible. It replaces the out-of-print Geographical Basics in the Land of the Bible and offers 'Maps for Marking.' Discussion and marking exercises appear in the Geobasics Study Guide, see Geobasics.

Details: 24 pages (8.5x11" or 21.5x28cm); 11 double-spread maps; one chart on rock types and their characteristics. ORDER

Regions on the Run (RR) - The book Regions on the Run teaches the regional dynamics of the Land of the Bible. It can be a stand alone study or the 'home base' for a more thorough study described below.

Details: 38 pages (9x13" or 23.5x33cm); 37 maps; two charts (one folding out from back cover) with brief discussions; an integrated texts; a six page Regional Outline of the Gospels. ORDER

Regional Study Maps (RSM) - These seven large maps show individual features in the land (hills, valleys, etc). Their carefully shaded relief allows the student to work out biblical events on an accurate presentation of the country's terrain (click 'The Land' for examples).

Details: Seven color maps; six at 17x22" or 43x56cm; one at 11x17" or 28x43cm; north oriented showing relief, regional and site names, rivers, roads, elevations and other features. Heavier paper stock available for mounting. ORDER

A digital book, not in printed form but available for download:
Regional Study Guide (RSG) - This 98-page Guide leads the student through Regions on the Run and the marking of the seven maps above. It can be downloaded/printed from this site and then punched and put in a three-hole binder for convenient use.

Details: 8.5 x 11" or 21.5 x 28 cm; text with no images. DOWNLOAD

Future productions - Electronic media is the most inexpensive way of bringing our materials to you and has now become our top priority. More period charts, however, will be printed (to be announced here). A map and text book are on the drawing board for a later printing. See pages of Regions on the Run below. See 'The Land' or 'Its History' for maps and period charts.
